After a pedestri8an accident in 2001 Carol Ann started painting in 2002 at her own expense which is rehabilitation. Painting most every day, has helped her with her healing process physically, emotionally and mentally. She started with reproductions to learn color, shapes, form and basically, is self taught. Painting happy paintings some from memory others from photographs portraying children's, mixed media and derivative art. Abstract painting has been the hardest most challenging so, she continues with reproductions and other paintings until she is comfortable to try again only to lean towards landscape avoiding abstract, again.
Carol Ann Thibodeau was born in the Village of Weston, Toronto, Ontario. She is of Corporate background and enjoyed the country, suburb and cottage lifestyles prior to moving to British Columbia in 1977. Working with namely, acrylics she paints on canvas, paper or wood and focuses on Collections. She applies gesso, measures, sketches, under paints, layers. Sometimes, she adding inks, mediums and objects and enjoys mixed media. A professional, permanent bonding agent is used adhering fibres, embellishments and/or objects as a creative process for artistic purposes only. Carol Ann adheres Silver, Genuine Sterling Silver and 23.5 Karat Genuine Gold Leaves on some artworks seen throughout Gallery Rooms 3, 18, 20 and 23. She has reproduced some of her own paintings.
Art Techniques, Styles, Subjects: Academic + Natural; Original Paintings + Original Reproductions; Surreal, Abstract, Children-Kids, Mixed Media and other Art; Derivative Art. She has needed a studio. For years, she has been sleeping in the living room. Carol Ann has so much art her bedroom is used as a storage room; art on the walls, in boxes, stacked on shelves, on tables, in closets and throughout to the living room walls. Would ICBC, The Liberal Party, Government and others have done to all Master Artists what they have done to Carol Ann? Are they be able to appreciate, respect the Artists, their works to owning originals sold through Auction Houses?
Carol Ann's children-kids art is comparative to folk art portraying a happy, delightful story. Some paintings have embellishments that sparkle, a child's and adult's favorite of any age. Spiritual dreams, barns, buildings, landscapes, still life, words and music inspire her. Browsing antique stores memories of her childhood surfaced; the excitement of her family, the familiar road nearing the cottage, feeling the wind blow, the sound of leaves dancing, the smell of pine trees and Georgian Bay waters to creating The Rowboat Children, Collection.
She loved writing and painted Abstraction on wood with tar, household paints at the early age of 7 maybe, 8 the size approximately, a side panel of a cottage H x W x D. Off and on, in her youth she painted and was not involved in graffiti. An accident occurred in 1977 and she had to relearn many tasks, things in general. She was reminded recently, of a painting she did of an image on wood and shown the painting. Like Henri Matisse, she has done many drawings in bed living, dealing with uncertainty. You may wonder why was there only one original, reproduction in oil? Due to chest pain, shallow breathing and respiratory difficulties she did not know oil could make anyone very ill for days. Most of her paintings are acrylic, drawings from the years 2007 to present.
Carol Ann has many passions, desires. Her numerous injuries since 2001 are a direct result requiring an assistant if she were to write professionally, now. She has a passion, love for writing primarily, script writing and there's, " stunts."
My cousin stated, "what I remember most about you was your writing." I was gifted with a cape from childhood by my parents later, I wrote and later earned another cape when I was maybe, 14 and has there been stunts, SHHHH.
Family connections from Florida to LA to many places within the USA I knew from my childhood and now my parents were considering having me move to LA and live with my uncle. Could have been when I had San Francisco on my mind and that was shelved, off I went to the Academy.
In 1977, I moved to BC and LA came up to BC later, in 1980-2 meeting so many people including Art Scholl and wife Judy who wanted me to come to LA. Sadly, he died during the filming of Top Gun, he was a stunt aerobatic pilot in 1985.
Two men interviewed me in 1993-4 and stated, " Your groomed." I knew that and for God's Glory. I am available to negotiate for a movie, "REVEALING THE VEILS," read my BLOGS.
Would the film industry disregard any stunt performer's injuries to having an ICBC claim, dismissed?
This was not a work injury. What about Worksafe BC when vehicles must be insured and have valid license plates? My son is a stunt performer and our family has been affected period the numerous injuries resulting from a pedestrian accident not, incident that happened at night, and not to be seen on January 20, 2001 due to no barricades, lighting, security, fencing, sidewalk blocks. I am innocent, I was a pedestrian. All years I paid my insurance premiums in good faith.
Art school and workshops would be also be nice and to have a studio seeing that she sleeps in the living room due to an abundance of paintings that have filled her bedroom like a storage unit.
As a self-taught inspired artist, painter she has learned fine arts reproducing Emily Carr, Edward Degas, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pierre - Auguste Renoir, Georgia O'Keefe, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Salvador Dali, Marsden Hartley, Howard Hodgkin, Paul Gaugin, Vincent Van Gogh and others. There were artist(s) who lived through times of injustice, battles, wars and some more than others; Joan Miro, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Paul Nash, Amedeo Modigliani, and others. Is that, what separates the artwork of an artist from others making their art valuable after their death? One cannot solely, rely on one's talent or ability.
Respecting the Matisse Estate wishes and others, she will not be uploading any images of her original reproductions until their copyrights expire. Original reproductions without copyright infringements will be posted on her website.
Carol Ann has personal permission to have exhibitions and sell her Matisse paintings in Canada only, at this time respecting the Matisse Estate wishes.
She has four children and two grandchildren. Her Mom, physician, respirologist and others also encourage her to keep painting. How do you TIEABOW is how one may pronounce, Thibodeau. A positive attitude, honesty, a heart of gratitude, love, justice is the best medicine!
